Places Near Girivan
Pawana Lake is an artificial lakes in the vicinity of Pune. It is just 17.9 Kms from Girivan, this lake came into existence after the construction of the Pawana Dam, and now it plays a scenic host for camp site.The overnight stay will be in tents nest to the lake. Depending on the group size tent will be provided.During the stay, activities like make your own barbeque, stargazing and bonfire will take place. The campsite is located near the forts like Lohagad, Tikona and Tungi and a trek can be arranged at an additional cost for large groups.
Tamhini Ghat is a mountain passage located between Mulshi and Tamhini in Maharashtra. Which is around 39.6 km from Girivan. Situated on the crest of the Western Ghat mountain ranges, Tamhini Ghat is noted for its surroundings comprising scenic waterfalls, lakes and dense woods. The best time to visit in August and September. During the rainy season, the place transforms into a green bed with lots of waterfalls and small streams.
Lonavala is a town and a hill station Municipal Council in Pune district .It is about 64 km from Pune and 96 km from Mumbai.and from girivan it is around 51.6km. It is known for its production of the hard candy chikki and is also a major stop on the railway line connecting Mumbai and Pune. From the Pune suburbs, local trains are available from Pune Junction. Both the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as well as the Mumbai-Chennai highway pass through Lonavala.
Tikona also known as Vitandgad is the dominant hill fort in Maval in western India. It is located near Kamshet around 60 km from Pune and 17 km from Girivan. The village nearest to the fort is called Tikona-Peth. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means ``triangular``. The fort is a trekking destination noted for the large doors, the temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev', a water tanks (seven water tanks) and some Satvahan caves. Trek organisers also commend the views of Pawna dam and the nearby forts of Tung, Lohagad and Visapur.
